One of Tamer Trixie's earliest travels. On her way to get Leo, supposedly a "Great King" of this area long ago, but now the region is bleak, dead and stale.
Took some liberty with the Timberwolves, because although their designs were neat, they were kind of flat here. Magical creatures should get some kind of glow anyway, right?
Ten hours, or so, Photoshop. So, many, branches, ugh.
Edit: Ah, that explains the traffic, this was on EQD #735. Always a pleasure~
This is a very impressive work of art, executed in fine style. The light grey mist in the background contrasts well with the darkness of the tree-covered wasteland in the foreground.
The timberwolves appear threatening, yet also wary. The ruined castle and the birds are a nice touch, especially due to the way that they almost disappear in the mist.
Two points of criticism: the timberwolf that is being shattered appears to me to be somehow suspended in the air; one can tell that it is being broken apart, but I can't discern any lines of movement that suggest a really forceful breaking, as under an impact. The way that the spell is issuing from Trixie and her stance would suggest that that is what is happening here.
The other quibble is that the strong contrast between light and dark around Trixie makes her figure somewhat hard to make out. I had to look closely to be able to recognize her and see her stance.
These are minor points, though. I can't fault the artist on technique, composition or effect. This is a good piece of art, and I think it will find broad approval within the deviantArt community.
This is truly tremendous. It looks incredible, to say the least. But the thing I find most... "distressing", for lack of a better word, about it is simply... Ten Hours?!? TEN HOURS!!! How is finishing a piece of this quality in that amount of time even possible?!? I honestly cannot even begin to comprehend how much practice it must take to be able to work at this quality that rapidly. Truly impressive, to say the least. Anyhow, a truly superb piece and my new wallpaper. Thank you for the stellar experience.
